5 Super Powers that exist in words.
I'm pretty sure you’ve heard the age old saying, “ your words are powerful”, but why are words so powerful? What can using the right words actually do for an individual? Being human I know that at times we lose control of our word, both spoken and unspoken; but control over your words, spoken or unspoken allows one to have control over their life. To see the power of one’s words, one must be aware of their words, spoken or unspoken.
1. The ability to manipulate the world around you.
Simply saying the right things to yourself, or even the right people can change the physical world that you perceive. Changing the world isn’t as hard as you think it is because it all exists in your perception. Failure can be viewed as a step to success and just as winning a race by forfeit can be viewed as not a win at all. Learn to make the world, don’t just exist in it.
2. The ability to manipulate other people
Manipulation is a word that has negative connotations; but, it's a neutral term. The outcome of the manipulation determines whether we perceive it as negative or positive. Many times we’ve manipulated others' choices without even knowing that we did so. Being aware that everything you say( including body language or in other indirect ways of communication) matters to the people you say it to. We are all constantly affecting and being affected by each other.
3. The effects people's words have on the individual( from a neutral perspective).
As capable as we are to manipulate the world is as capable as the world’s manipulation on us. Many of us are shaped by words of other people, whether it be parents/guardians. peers/associates, etc. Many people( not all) tend to use dominant cultures and subcultures to attempt to build a sense of unique identity while fitting in( Contradicting much?). Blindly adapting to a culture may be the worst mistake of your life, I speak from experience.
4. How words can sway a crowd
The most effective thing a passive activist can do is speak up. The right words have led to many world changes. When one speaks with passion( not necessarily truth) and learns to erect emotion, a countless crowd can kneel before you and quiver at your punctuation. Now the ego behind one who chooses to grasp the hearts of a crowd is a whole different story. We must never forget that we are our own leaders and we must know the leaders we follow.
5. How our meaningless choice words affect our world and others
Sometimes we talk and think without thinking( if that makes sense). Some thoughts and words tend to flow effortlessly through our lips and our minds; these cognitive and linguistic rus dictate more than we realise. Taking time to notice how you think and how you speak is the first step to using your super power.
Conclusion:
Words and our comprehension of those words dictate our lives; the amazing thing about being an “Intelligent”( or aware) creature is our ability to control our words and our perception of the multiple forms of language we obsurd daily. One of the most powerful things we can do is say the right words. What message are you trying to send to the world?
