The concept behind the “One foot in” strategy is getting your foot in the door within an industry by finding an entry point. Entry points can be discovered through market research into the industry and discovering a problem to solve within the industry( The truest entrepreneurial purpose! ). Once a problem is identified then, one can proceed on to the phase of creating solutions. Solutions must be focused on the future, or the strategy will fail. Several companies are already focused on developing the future, so to perform this task it is not as complicated as one may think, but one cannot shy away from the research work.
Globalization is the future of business, and one must learn not to attempt to build everything from scratch but rather learn how to utilize existing companies. For example, Apple is technically not a single company but a congregation of a couple of hundred companies that act toward a single goal. Yes, today, we know this congregation of entities to be a single thing, but at its inception, it was not. Solutions will vary from problem to problem, obviously. Still, the basis of this strategy takes place in things one knows of the industry and of companies that have potentially already begun to develop a solution without even knowing it.
In this era of grandiose information, all the information you need to figure out what one will use to get “One Foot In” is easily accessible online. What one must do is look through complaints about an industry; What is it the consumer wants? Business fundamentals can be integrated into any industry and are the most important factor in sustainability, which the lack of, is something you will discover to be the cause of death in several companies. Find the weakest point and exploit it. “It will always pay to be first,” this tactic is not something that Marketing companies usually do, yet as for productpromotionals.com this concept( which is touched on very lightly) was the answer to our survival. Several marketing companies typically want others to come to them, but with this strategy one can find their own work( thanks to our technological, communicative & informational advancements.) You will find some of your solutions will not last forever but it will last long enough for you to discover a new issue to tackle if executed correctly. My best advice for those attempting this strategy to keep their company alive, is make sure you do your homework, if your not spending anywhere between 3 - 6 Months into your research then you will most likely fail because you do not know enough.
