Intro
History has brought us countless influential women, some of them the rest of the world may never know of and sadly in some cases have forgotten. I found it extremely difficult to choose which women I would include in this list, because there are so many. Women have in many cases directly impacted the future of the world, yet in many cases they do not get the credit they deserve like Florence Nightingale.
1. Florence Nightingale
Who was Florence nightingale? Florence Nightingale is the mother of modern day nursing. Yet she was so much more that than. She was a scientist in her own right who expressed a deep passion for statistics and this passion led her to research in sanitation. Her work led to improved sanitation in hospitals which decreased the mortality rates dramatically. Her work continues to save people today.
2. Ruth Bader Ginsberg
If there is one thing I've learned about this glass-ceiling shattering legend is that she was a fighter. Ruth Bader Ginsberg dedicated her life to human rights and to simply doing the right thing. She was living proof that hard work and dedication can cause change. She served the people of the United States as an associate of the supreme court justice for 25 ethical and impactful years.
3. Mary Magdalene
Religion aside Mary Magdalene( if real) is one of the most misrepresented and influential women of all time. It is speculated that she was one the closest people to Yeshua and played a major role in many religions. Due to views on societal norms in that area and in that time period, Mary Magdalene's name has been un-rightfully slandered, but she had a major impact on human history.
4. Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart was much more than a pilot. Before becoming the infamous female pilot and then disappearing she served as a nurse in WII. She broke countless records, not only for women but pilots in general. Her love and dedication to her art earned her a spot as one of the most influential women of all time.
5. Professor Elizabeth Blackburn
Elizabeth Blackburn is one of the most brilliant individuals ever, period. She can be accredited for the discovery of the molecular structure of telomeres and co-discovered the enzyme telomerase. These scientific contributions have given scientists a better understanding of aging and disease. These discoveries were leaps in the mountain that is cellular division and DNA.
6. Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks was a brilliant activist who was nicknamed “mother of the civil rights movement”.
She dedicated her life to equality for people, and her impact on the world seemingly sparked at the back of a bus. She has become a timeless face and icon for equality and equal treatment of all people in the U.S
7. Marie Curie
Maria Salomea Skłodowska, was a world renowned physicist and chemist. Her contributions to science are immeasurable and has been a great influence on many scientists throughout history. Her list of accomplishments is quite long and more than impressive. She dared travel on the frontier of radiation and discover plutonium and radium. She was an intellectual force to be reckoned with.
