Education is important but not every person learns the same way or holds the same interest( this is nothing new). Growing up was a rather interesting time for me to say the least. Some of the things we go through in life are controlled and some aren't. In some cases( not all), children, teens & young adults exist in a very controlled environment; unaware that the world is both a beast and a beauty. It's good to have a dream but better to have a plan. When I was growing up I always told myself that I was going to be a Marine. I wanted to be that badass in the movies but due to a few things that were out of my control, life took me elsewhere. Then it came to a point where, when things didn't go my way I would say I'm just going to go to the military as an escape route( just to say I did something with myself). I never went to the military because I guess I never found my reason to leave( Not speaking on anyone's behalf only mines). There are 2 things that constantly drift by my thoughts; what if I went to the military? What would my life be like if I knew these things( the lessons I’ve learned):
What Success Means to you
The term success is a personal opinion. Yes, you can see things others have and associate that with what your ideal success is but it’s something that originates from one’s perspective, not others. Dissecting your success and truly understanding it is the observation of the life one dreams to live.
How to work towards your right direction
If you’ve taken the time to identify what success is to you, then the steps become obvious. There is information on things other people have lived but the circumstance is chaotic. You can’t doubt yourself, but you need to live within reason and logic( I’m pretty sure I write these blogs for myself lol). Learn and act on what you’ve learned. It's that simple.
Basic Finances and savings
Living with-in my budget is something that I’ve always struggled with and I believe( for me at least) it stems from habit. My parents always told me to save but I was always rebellious. There was an emergency I couldn't handle and that shame is something I wish I can save at least one person from. I’ve had quite a few good ideas in my lifetime ( I think), but it took me years and years to get anywhere because I had no cash to do anything with. It doesn't take much money to build something big ( if your wits are with you) but if you have nothing because of poor spending then it’s your fault you're where you're at… You save your money to spend it in the future; be smart about what you spend it on.
Trust is valuable and shouldn't be handed out
Not everyone who smiles is friendly, some people are manipulative by nature and others will do anything to get ahead. It’s a dog eat dog world out there kids. Being lackadaisical with my trust is one of my greatest shames.
Don't follow the crowd
The smallest exchange of perception can change more than we realize in other people's lives and vice versa. May luck be with you if you mindlessly follow like a sheep because there are many shepherds that walk right off the cliff. Think for yourself.
Never stop having fun and enjoying life
I know life can be sour but without the sour times, you won’t know the sweet times when you taste them. Life is meant to be enjoyed, just because we grow doesn’t mean we must stop enjoying the gift of perception. Play as hard as logically possible.
Never stop learning
Education has always been a struggle for me because a lot of that crap is so boring. Yet education will help pave the path to your success ( it’s a critical variable in the formula). Yet the reality of learning is we choose what we want to learn which is a power no one can take from you, but if you seize to learn then you're only in regression because the world is ever-changing. Man-kind is a creative creature of habit.
The importance of Ethics
Ethics is a messy term because not everyone may see the same things as ethical, but let's take the complications out of it. You know what's right and wrong, and being a person who has dabbled in his fair share of immoral acts I can tell you they are direct consequences. Consequences come in many forms and some are self-generated.
You are the creator of your world.
I always knew deep inside since I was little that I was the creator of the world I perceived to an extent. You create the thoughts you're thinking, the thoughts you think dictate your actions and actions manipulate the world around you. Think smart, act smart.
Conclusions:
I always wondered what my life would be like if I knew these things right out of high school. I think my biggest setback was trusting and befriending the wrong people in life. Not everything that shimmers is worth the trouble because there are many things that shimmer that are worthless. At times life can be scary, but when you find your security, your success it’s pretty sweet. Build a better future for you, not for anyone else. Discouragement and doubt are just a part of it but when you remember the cards are in your hands and you choose what game you want to play it becomes a lot less scary.
